Donations fund Birdhouse’s weekly market operations, keeping Richmond’s supply chain of local, healthy food both robust and affordable, for eaters and for producers.
$25, $250, any amount makes an impact – donations make Birdhouse’s work possible. Birdhouse relies on you to underwrite our SNAP program with matching dollars for all participants; for cooking demos and in-market education, for children’s events and neighborhood outreach.

**You may consider donations to Birdhouse Farmers Market Inc. deductible for income tax purposes. Birdhouse Farmers Market Inc. completed its federal non-profit, charitable filing with United States Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service in mid-2021, and is awaiting our approval “exemption” letter. Volunteer
Birdhouse Farmers Market relies on volunteers to make the market possible! Without volunteers we could not do what we do; successfully support local farmers, increase access to healthy fresh food, and educate the community on the joy and value of shopping and eating locally! We are currently looking for volunteers to help on market day. Responsibilities will include market setup or breakdown (tables, market booth, signage, etc.), assisting vendors, greeting customers, keeping count of traffic flow, assisting with market education, demos, and activities, and staffing the Birdhouse market booth. There are two shifts available each Tuesday: 1:00pm to 4:00pm and 3:30pm to 6:30pm. Volunteers should be committed to working once or twice a month from May through November.
