Birdhouse Farmers Market is a friendly, open-air, all-weather, mid-week, food-focused farmers market in the Randolph neighborhood of Richmond Virginia. 2024 is our 18th season, our 9th season in Randolph. Birdhouse is committed to strengthening our local food system and improving the health and well-being of our community.

Our vendors are some of the best farmers and local food producers in the area, maintaining the highest standards in all that they do. As a result, Birdhouse draws an average weekly attendance of more than 600 persons per market.

In 2020 we added Birdhouse Online Market and extended our market season to year round, with the online only Birdhouse Winter Market (December - April). Our Winter Market enjoys more than 200 committed customers served by 30+ local producers.

All of our In-Person market vendors participate in our Online market. In this way, our customers have multiple ways of accessing outstanding local foods all year round and our vendors have access to the broadest number of Birdhouse Farmers Market customers. It is also possible to participate as an Online Only Vendor. In-Person market vendors have the option, but are not required to participate in the Birdhouse Winter Market.

Of note: Vendor fees (6% of sales or $35 minimum) cover about 60% of the operating costs of Birdhouse Farmers Market. Annual sponsors, grants, and fundraisers cover the remaining costs. Our main fundraiser is our Annual Dinner, showcasing foods from Birdhouse vendors prepared by local chefs. Vendors are asked, but are not required, to donate a small amount of their product to this fall event.

The 2024 In-Person Market is Full!

At this time, you are welcome to complete the application process in order to be placed on the in-person market waitlist. You are also welcome to apply to be considered as an Online Only vendor, which includes our Winter Market when in-person market is over and Online Market during in-person market season. If applying to be an online-only vendor, please note this in your Lulu’s application under the “business description” category.

A $100 application fee is required before we can complete the application process. You may submit an online application and we will bill you for the application fee. More details are in the Market Rules and Regulations linked below.

The application link below will direct you to Lulu’s Local Food website. You will need to make a free account on Lulu’s Local Food in order to apply to vend at the market. If you are considered for the in-person market, there is an additional supplemental application that you will receive via email.
