Join us at Birdhouse Community Garden for a DIY mushroom cultivation workshop! Chandler from the Richmond Mycological Society will walk everyone through preparing terracotta pots to grow oyster mushrooms, and how to care for your inoculated mushroom pot (tek) at home.
At the end of the workshop, bring home your terracotta pot and watch your mushrooms grow*!

Tickets must be reserved by June 28th to allow for preparation of materials.
Ticket prices are sliding scale with three tiers ($15, $25, $45). Pay what you can, and/or leave a donation to support Birdhouse Community Garden!

Materials: All materials provided, though we encourage donations of the following items: 6-8 inch terracotta pots and 8-10 inch terracotta saucers. Donated materials may be left on the shelves in the greenhouse at Birdhouse Community Garden (1507 Grayland Ave). Donations must be dropped off by July 12th.
Age Policy: 14+
Children 16 and under need an adult supervisor. If the adult is just supervising, they do not need to purchase a ticket. If the adult wants to innoculate their own tek, they need to also buy a ticket.
Participants will take home the following:
Inoculated oyster mushroom pot
Saucer
Humidity cover
Care sheet
Transport Box
*Mushroom growth success depends on care at home after the workshop. Each participant will receive a detailed care instruction sheet and Chandler will be happy to answer questions at the workshop!
Refund Policy:
Birdhouse cannot issue refunds for tickets purchased for this event. Should you need to cancel your ticket reservation, options include:
Transferring the ticket to someone else who can attend the workshop.
Donating the ticket to Birdhouse to be gifted to a Birdhouse team member or volunteer.
We are unable to give refunds for unsuccessful mushroom growth due to the varying home growing circumstances participants may encounter.
